About Us

CLPublications Logo
The publishing company, Children’s Literacy Publications (CLP) was founded in 2001 by a teacher, Janet Caruthers, Ed. S. It was established after Janet became aware of the huge gap in basic vocabulary evident in her students and others. The books CLP publishes all focus on building vocabulary in infants through adults. Our motto is “Everything Has a Name. How many do you know?” Our books help children and adults increase those numbers. CLP sells these books to schools, teachers, school districts, grant recipients, parents and others. Its website, www.MakeReadingFirst.com is dedicated to helping teachers and parents create better readers. It contains Reading information and tips as well as providing opportunities for buying our books.
